Originally trained as an actor at Joan Littlewood’s E15 Acting School London and extended training at the Royal Shakespeare Company, Rachael’s directing is actor led, with a strong emphasis on ensemble work.


Rachael was awarded a National Theatre Wales emerging director title in 2013 working on Tonypandemonium, Crouch Touch Pause Engage and with TEAM. At the same time she started her own company Motherlode which has performed work at the Wales Millennium Centre, Riverfront Theatre and completed a sellout run of her debut production The Good Earth at Chapter in 2015. Her second production Rhum is being co-produced with Theatre Brycheiniog and will show in 2017.


Rachael is also a resident artist at the Park & Dare with RCT Arts, running their development strand. Born in South Wales and trained in London, her stories are intrinsically welsh, with a European tradition of physical ensemble.
