Timothy Morand
Timothy was born in Portugal to an English mother and a French father and grew up in
England. He worked in Germany before training at LAMDA to become an actor. He spent his
first years playing long seasons in the repertory companies, including Dundee, Newcastle,
Nottingham, the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse, and a season at the Young Vic with Frank
Dunlop. Other theatre includes The War, Ken Campbell’s 24 hour epic at the Roundhouse:
Brecht in Plebians Rehearse the Uprising at the Arcola; Bonnie Greer’s Jitterbug at the
Arcola; Riders From The Sea by Synge and Top Dogs at the Southwark Playhouse; The Irish
Curse at Edinburgh and Dublin Festivals. Most recently Timothy was in Rest Upon the Wind by
Nadim Sawalha, which sold out at at the Rverside Studios, followed by a Middle Eastern tour.
He participated in the Globe Theatre’s Sonnet Walk celebrating Shakespeare’s birthday.
Timothy’s film career began with Stanley’s Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon, followed by Anjolras in
Les Miserables, A Bridge Too Far, Ivanhoe, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Zanussi’ s From A far
Country, and Lady Oscar by Jacques Demi. Recent films include Graceland and Mercutio’s
Dreaming. Timothy also recently played Barly in Barly’s Roof by Derek Walcott, for the
National Theatre Archive and Winter Darkness at the New End Theatre written by Alan Cubitt.
Timothy has played many leading parts in television drama, including Dennis Potter’s Late Call
where he played Ray in TV’s first gay love scene; Pedro in Coronation Street, memorable for
snogging Mavis Reilly; The Secret Army; Poldark; Casualty; BBC Classic film One Last
Chance; The Paradise Club; Jilly Cooper’s Riders for ITV; Inspector Morse and The Secret
Agent with David Suchet . Most recently Timothy was in Little Dorrit and Law and Order UK.
Timothy has extensive radio experience, most recently BBC Radio 4’s On Cigarette Papers
with Greg Wise and Emma Fielding. He also has considerable VO experience including for
Disappearing World and corporate, narration and commercials.
He has been in many commercials and is famous in Ireland for playing heartthrob Andre for
Kerrygold and 2013’s Boot’s Christmas Commercial. Timothy has also participated in many
workshops developing and devising new plays.
He is married to artist filmmaker Nicola Lane .Their son Louis, aka DJ Downlow, recently
graduated in Sound Design from the NFTS.
