Lenny Wood, John Mcgrellis and John Draycott are to appear in “Anne”; he story of Anne Williams, the mother of a Hillsbourough Disaster victim. The title role is played by Maxine Peake and follows Anne’s battle with cancer and her fight to find out the truth behind her 15-year-old son Kevin’s death.

World Productions, the company behind shows including Line Of Duty and the BBC hit Bodyguard, present the Drama on ITV later this year.

Kevin was one of 96 Liverpool fans who died in the 1989 football tragedy, and the show was written by Hillsborough survivor Kevin Sampson.

Anne died in 2013 from cancer aged 62 before fresh inquests shed more light on an alleged institutional cover-up.

Anne, from Formby, Merseyside, was devastated by the loss of her son at the 1989 FA Cup semifinal between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest.

Refusing to believe the Police’s version of events and the media’s portrayal of the disaster, she sought out new medical evidence, found witnesses whose statements were altered and investigated tirelessly in her fight for the truth.
